ABOUT US
Founded by Dr. Sabrina Suluai-Mahuka, Finafinau is a youth-centered, membership-based environmental organization grounded in the values of resilience, cultural identity, and intergenerational leadership. The word Finafinau in Samoan means steadfastness or resilience, which is a reflection of the mindset we seek to cultivate in the next generation of Pacific leaders.
Initiated in 2017 and formally established in 2022, Finafinau exists to uplift youth across American Samoa by bridging environmental education with cultural stewardship. Through strategic partnerships with schools, government agencies, and community organizations, we empower young people to engage in hands-on learning experiences that protect our natural resources and strengthen their voices in environmental advocacy.
Our work includes environmental workshops, reforestation campaigns, coastal restoration efforts, nursery development, climate summits, outreach initiatives, and school-based programs that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive as leaders in the face of climate change.
